Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin

(Brief Biography)

The four artist's involved met in college where they studied Fine Art at Dublin Institute of Technology. They volunteered to paint thirty two paintings between them for Saint John's Ward (at OLHC). They were provided with art materials (including canvases, brushes and paint.) They are finished the paintings and are waiting for them to be framed for the new ward (Phase 2) to be up and running. They are hoping the paintings will be up on the walls by September/ October 2013.

  • Dziena Dance

I'll start off with my dancer painting; I love dancing; it always puts a smile on my face, I hope it makes others smile too.
Here are some models I used for my painting.

This piece was originally for the parents waiting room but may end up somewhere else in St. John's ward due to the large size.

I went for a modern approach leaving the hair free instead of traditionally tied back. I named it Dziena after the actress Alexis Dziena.

The sky fascinates me; I am a keen star gazer and enjoy cloud watching.
The sky is an important feature in my picture's.

  • Mallord Belle (seascape).

This is upside down so if anyone can tell me how to rotate on this?
There doesn't
seem to be an option? Then again it's interesting the 'wrong' way.

This is of a catamaran but also turned out to look like a buoy as well.
Just shows how something can start out being one thing and end up being
another.

  • Mother and Child.

This portrait was inspired by many friends with children including the other
artist's in the group
Danielle and Kat with Donncha and Darla who are adorable and such
beautiful babies.
And my friend Trish and her baby girl Lilly were my main muse here.

  1. Hi Emily, I love your pictures. Thanks for inviting me to your blog. I imagine they will carry a lot of atmosphere onto a children's ward. Copper rainbow is a dream! Anne
