Children of Lir Painting - Kat

Full view of Painting

Detail of swan emerging from the waves

Detail of swans mid flight
Hi everyone,
Here are a few photos of the painting I'm currently working on based on 300 years that the Children of Lir spent in the stormy Sea of Moyles. It is one of four works planned for the ward that are based on Irish Myths and Legends, the other four being The Salmon of Knowledge, Tir Na nOg and The Hound of Cuchulainn. Let me know any suggestions or comments you may have for me.
Thanks and hope to see everyone soon.

Turtley cool duuuude :)

These are the initial paintings done for my turtle themed painting.
I will add 2 more turtle's and some fish, and 3D seaweed and rocks/pebbles as the painting progresses. Yet again materials are a problem, but I have almost sorted this out. I love the idea of adding the 3D element and mixed media to my work.

I'm having SO much fun with this project.

I also find that if I work on each piece half way and start on a new piece it gives me time to step back and not to over work each painting. So as of now all my work is half finished- that's how I roll :)

Emily's Drawing and Painting

Dancers in the waiting room

Some Sketches

I'm working on painting ballet dancers for the parents waiting room on St John's Ward. Watch this space for all my updates and progress.
Please leave any of us a comment if you have any ideas to add to the project or even just letting us know what you think of the work.

Ballerina in Pink (1885)

Dance class (1874)
Here are two paintings I found relevant by Edgar Degas.

I've started on a painting with a mother and baby Elephant. Here are some pictures and 3D work I've used as inspirational work.

Here is my painting of the Parent and Baby Elephant with stary sky.
November 2012

I love star gazing and animals so used this starry sky as the backdrop to the parent and baby elephants.

Copper Rainbow

Here's a recent painting I've done from a photo I took while in class when heating copper for a sculpture.

Bye for now.

Candyland - Louise

This is the Candyland scene i've been working on, its very unfinished (painting smarties is very time consuming!) There will be lots of cupcake mountain type things in the background and a field with some kind of candy animals! And maybe some flying cola bottles and gummy bears! Also more candy floss trees :)

Thats it so far i'll post more pictures as I get more done.

First photos

Here's is the first photo of the first painting I started for this project.
I will post more when my camera is up amd running.

This is how the painting will eventually look- with the octopus eating lollipops.

I want the lollipops to stand out so I plan to knit or crochet a rounded circular shape- I'mjust having some problems with the materials i want to use. Looking for plastic type texture but plastic bags are bland looking. I'm going to have a rumage in the bargain corners of some shops see what comes up. Any ideas???

Lets get started

It's taken some time to get this blog up and running- BUT WERE FINALLY HERE! :)

This blog is to keep everyone updated with the progress we've made and the work we are doing for this wonderful hospital.
We hope you have as much fun looking at our work as we did creating it.
